SEWN

Is is possible for me to create work that isn't completely time consuming and repetitive? I don't think so.

Sewing has always been integral to my work as it is the starting point for how I began to pinprick into paper. Growing up my mum encouraged me to learn to sew and at art school I was always interested in how I could use sewing within my projects.

These works are a continuation of exploration into using thread which like my pinprick works began with the simplicity of 'white on white' but have now evolved into using colour and my technique to build up shadow and shape.

I especially love creating these works as they allow me to find a sense of calm and really turn off from the hustle and bustle of the world around us. They have helped me get through many challenges, especially within the last two years during the pandemic.

I hope that the viewer can find that sense of calm within these works too.
